How To Select The Right Screw Jack for Your Application

Selecting a machine screw jack (also called a trapezoidal or acme jack) is usually the best choice for static loads, manual operation, or applications where you need the jack to "hold its position" safely. The biggest reason to choose a machine screw jack is safety. Because of the high friction between the steel screw and the bronze nut, most of these jacks are self-locking. Outdoor/Washdown: Standard steel screws will rust. Specify stainless steel screws and epoxy-painted housings for wet areas. Machine screw jacks are built for heavy lifting, but they are limited by heat and buckling.

1. KMC0.5T - KMC100T model screw jacks are withstand the maximum static load capacity 0.5tons to 100tons, not dynamic load capacity. The dynamic loads depends on stroke, travel speed and working conditions. About the safety dynamic load capacity, please contact us.

Single lead screw jacks are self-locking, vibration loads must be avoided, otherwise, self-locking function will be failure. Double lead screw jacks offer increased travel speed and require a brake or external locking device to hold position.

2. Gear Ratio

H: High gear ratio.

L: Slow gear ratio.

Custom other gear ratios.

Travel Length per turn of worm shaft = screw pitch / ratio.


3. Basic Designs

AS: Upright, Translating screw.

BS: Inverted, Translating screw.

CS: Upright, Keyed screw for Anti-rotation.

DS: Inverted, Keyed screw for Anti-rotation.

ER: Upright, Rotating screw.

FR: Inverted, Rotating screw.

Note: The lifting screw of AS or BS jacks must be attached to the guided load which prevents the lifting screw from rotating. If your application involves a load which is unattached, unguided or the load is free to rotate and not translate, then CS or DS jacks are required to prevent lifting screw rotation.


4. Stroke

300: 300mm stroke. Custom Stroke.

Stroke is travel length expressed in millimeter(mm) or inches and not the actual screw length.

Note: long stroke screw jacks with compression loads, please calculate maximum critical buckling force.

5. End Conditions

TP: Top plate.

CE: Clevis end(male clevis).

PE: Plain end.

TE: Threaded end.

BJ: Ball joint.

FE: Fork end(female clevis).

Custom lifting screw ends.

SSL: Single Input, Left Side Shaft.

SSR: Single Input, Right Side Shaft.

SLR: Double Input Shafts.

SSLMFR: Left Side Shaft and Right Side Motor Flange (Motor Mounts).

MFR: Right Side Motor Flange (Motor Mounts).

SSRMFL: Right Side Shaft and Left Side Motor Flange (Motor Mounts).
